Want A Natural Digestion Remedy? Learn Which Herbs For Digestion Are Able to Improve Your Health

There is a well-known phrase ‘we are what we eat’, eating makes us happy and having an excellent digestive system helps ensure that happiness. The kind of problems that poor digestion can create are several and can certainly be unpleasant. There are several such as diarrhea, an upset stomach, gas or bloating and my most disagreeable one, heartburn. Modern medicine often takes its worst toll on your system by trying to counter balance the acids of your stomach. Doctors are in agreement that it is very seldom just one thing causing digestion problems. There are many herbs for digestion that you can consume, Jamison Starbuck, J.D., N.D., who happens to be a licensed naturopathic and homeopathic consultant prescribes: Gentian, Fennell, Ginger, Aloe and Peppermint.

These roots and herbs have been there for ages and and make ideal herbal aids for digestion. Peppermint is one of the ancient medicinal herbs that we are aware of and is most commonly found in your garden or growing naturally somewhere. Author of the book “Herbal Medicine” Rudolph Weiss states that peppermint has three main benefits. It can encourage the gallbladder and liver to create more bile, which aids in disinfecting the stomach from any irregularities. It also boasts of aesthetic properties that anaesthetizes the mucous membrane which prevents nausea and vomiting and also assist in reducing indigestion and gas. This is effectively a very ordinary herb for digestion that can be had in several forms, but usually the more pleasant one is tea.

According to the book “Zingiber officinale (ginger) — an anti-emetic for day case surgery,” written by Phillips, S., et al. Ginger is best known for its aromatic characteristics, just imagine that smell of frying the freshly chopped ginger while awaiting your order at a table in a popular Thai restaurant or even the pervading scent in your kitchen when fresh ginger is being prepared. Ginger is also popular because of its anti-nausea properties. In a trial conducted on a batch of 80 very tense young naval cadets, in the open waters on the high tide in 1988, they came to a conclusion that Ginger had significant benefits in reducing nausea and seasickness. Not only that, it also showed that Ginger was a great preventive measure, and a cure too.

Some herbs for digestion, like Aloe, Fennel and Gentian, allow for the control and prevention of upset stomachs. Fennel has a predominantly strong effect against relief of spasms in smooth muscles and other digestive issues such as morning sickness. It has also been recognized to be used in persons undergoing radiation to help soothe their stomachs. Aloe, in addition to having a naturally smoothing effect on your stomach, also includes amino acids, vitamin C and enzymes. Gentian is one of the lesser known herbs for digestion. Due to its extremely bitter taste, which helps stimulate digestive juices, it makes a good preventative measure against an upset stomach. Gentian also helps you to extract all supplementary nutrients into your system such as vitamin B12, and iron.

Obtaining herbs for digestion can be as easy as growing them yourself, or procuring them from the local market, but remember, if you are unsure then you should seek expert advice and do not let it slip your mind to drink plenty of water. Herbal remedies can work,   as long as they are used safely.
